Zafem is the most acclaimed konpa band of the current era — a harmonic renaissance band formed in 2019 and led by Reginald Cangé and Dener Céide. Their landmark album LAS (2023), featuring standout tracks “Savalou,” “Dlo Dous,” and “Lalin Ak Solèy,” marked a creative high point for modern konpa, winning over both critics and the carnival crowd with its rich harmonies and modern production. Zafem’s success has made them the standard-bearers of a konpa revival: proof that the genre founded by Nemours Jean-Baptiste can still produce defining music seven decades later. In the HMI directory, Zafem is cross-linked to Reginald Cangé’s other band affiliations as part of the relational artist model.
