About HMI

HMI stands for Haitian Music Industry & Entertainment.

Haitian music is more than a century deep — classical méringue and twoubadou, the birth of Konpa Dirèk in 1955, the mini-jazz explosion, mizik rasin, rap kreyòl, rabòday, and the diaspora sounds carrying Haiti to the world today. Most of that history lives in memory, in scattered posts, and in records that are disappearing. HMI exists to put it in one place, in order, and keep it.

Here you will find the eras laid out decade by decade, an artist directory with biographies and discographies, a Haitian cinema section that connects the musicians who became actors to the films they made, and a year-by-year carnival archive — in English, Haitian Creole, French, and Spanish.

HMI is a BeatShore property, built and maintained by DealShore LLC.
