Wyclef Jean

Wyclef Jean is the most globally recognized Haitian musician of his generation — a multi-Grammy-winning member of The Fugees, a multi-platinum solo artist, and a global ambassador who brought Haitian Creole and Haitian rhythm to the international charts. With The Fugees, he helped create The Score (1996), one of the defining hip-hop albums of the era; his solo career produced The Carnival (1997) and The Ecleftic (2000). As a songwriter and producer, he co-wrote and produced global number-one records including Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” and Santana’s “Maria Maria.” Beyond music, Wyclef has acted on screen — notably as “Richie Effs” in the cult classic Shottas (2002), with appearances in One Last Dance (2003), Full Clip (2006), and television series including Third Watch and Nashville — and composed and scored the soundtrack for Hotel Rwanda, whose song “Million Voices” was nominated for a Golden Globe.
